The Dungeon Builder

Our third visitor of the week was even more interesting. Matt; the dungeon builder. I’d suggested to Sally we turn the remaining two vaults into a playroom, and she’d loved the idea. I’d found Matt after trawling the internet. When I spoke to him, he’d impressed me with his calmness and candour. He’d also been the only person I’d found who not only supplied equipment but was also able to do any building or alteration work required. When he arrived, he had a woman with him.
“This is Yasmin; we work together. I hope that’s okay?”
I couldn’t help noticing Yasmin was wearing a choker. It might have been jewellery; who knew? We passed a few pleasantries and led them to the vaults in question. When we arrived, Matt let out a long whistle.
“My word. It’s ready-made for it, isn’t it?”
“It does seem appropriate. But it’ll need a lot of work.”
He turned to his partner. “What do you think, Yas?”
She had been looking around, a faint smile on her face.
“If we get it right, it’ll be perfect.”
“So, let’s get it right.”
Matt and Yasmin asked us how we wanted the room to look. We’d talked about that. We wanted it ‘Gothic lite’, if there was such a thing. Not too oppressive, but warm, cosy and rich. They seemed to understand. We talked about the walls; leave the bare brick, or cover it? What about the ceiling? The flooring? Lighting? Furniture? All this was before we even discussed what equipment we wanted.
We returned upstairs for this, and Matt suggested we split up to discuss our needs. It struck me as strange, but as Yasmin took Sally to the dining room, and Matt and I talked in the living room, it made sense.
“If I do a job for a couple or a group, I like to talk to each separately if possible. Firstly, if you’ll forgive me, to make sure all parties are okay with it. In the early days, I did a job for a guy who turned out to be less than genuine. He ended up serving time for assault and domestic abuse. I don’t want that again.
“But I also want to get a feel for your individual interests so I can recommend the best equipment for you. I know it means I may ask a few personal questions, but the more we understand your needs, the more we can help you get your room right.”
It made sense; it was a bit strange though. I’d never discussed this side of our lives with anyone but Sally. I don’t think she’d discussed it with anyone else either; except perhaps Lucy. I found myself telling Matt things which had been private until then. But he wasn’t prurient; he didn’t pry. He showed me a list of activities and asked me to rate them. A shortened BDSM checklist, basically. When Yasmin and Sally re-joined us, I noticed Sally was slightly flushed.
After another brief discussion, Matt offered to go away and come up with a design for the space. Enough to complete it as a room, incorporating any fixed items. He’d also provide a list of suggested equipment, although we had plenty of ideas of our own. We’d have to wait to see what he came up with.
